Safety Corner July 2026

When your Corvette is parked or unattended, here are a few things to consider for preventing theft. The best anti-theft devices for a Corvette target modern theft methods—like fob relay attacks, computer cloning via the OBD-II port, and CAN bus hacking.  Because Corvettes are high-value targets, a layered approach is most effective:

1. Hardwired Disablers

  • Ravelco Anti-Theft Device: A physical plug-and-play device requiring a specific 16-pin connector to be inserted into the dash before the car can start. It operates completely independent of the car's computer, is highly customizable (over 100,000 combinations), and requires professional installation.  https://www.nohotwire.com/shop/ravelco-for-c7-c8-corvettes/?srsltid=AfmBOooJeDMMT4D6VGjl9l8a6KbH1wSxbikVFsHGNeQhcFP2ptFrLpGW

  • IGLA System: A popular digital immobilizer that integrates into your Corvette's CAN bus. It prevents the engine from starting unless you enter a secure PIN sequence using the factory steering wheel buttons.

2. Pedal Lockout & Fob Protection

  • Soler Performance Bluetooth Throttle Controller: Available for C6, C7, and C8 generations, this device plugs in-line with your gas pedal. Through the smartphone app, you can physically lock the pedal so that even if a thief starts the car, pressing the gas does nothing.

  • Faraday Pouches: Thieves frequently use relay boxes to boost the signal from your key fob while it’s inside your home. Keeping your fobs in a signal-blocking pouch effectively stops this attack.

3. Physical Deterrents & Trackers

  • OBD-II Port Lock: Thieves often plug blank key fobs into the OBD-II port to reprogram the car's computer to their own fob. A lock or metal cover completely physically blocks this access.

  • Steering Wheel Lock: A highly visible visual deterrent, such as the Club or Stoplock, slows down an attempted theft, causing most thieves to abandon the vehicle and look for an easier target.

  • **Apple AirTag or GPS Tracker: While a tracker will not prevent the car from being stolen, hiding two trackers in different hard-to-reach locations (such as under a seat or behind a fuel panel) makes the vehicle incredibly easy to locate if it gets taken.

Drive safe.
